Fic: 221B - Communication

I really, really LOVE 221Bs! I think the format suits me best.

Summary: John and Sherlock sometimes do not speak the same language.



221B - Communication

‘John, I’m bored.’

‘You’ve got to be kidding me! Lestrade invite us to watch the game with him and you forced me...’

‘I did not force you!’

‘No, but you made it pretty clear that you did not want to go, because it would be - and here I quote - “dull”, so of course I stayed home as well.’

‘Why? Wait, is this one of those relationship things again?’

‘Yes, it is.’ John had to swallow his smile. ‘But the important thing here is that you made me stay home and now you’re bored?’

Sherlock just stared at him with that look he had when something was obvious (to him) and he was waiting for John to catch up.

‘Sherlock, it does not work that way. You can’t just WILL me to understand. Sometimes talk is required.’

Sherlock sulked for a few minutes, then got up and left.

‘Great, now we’re resorting to leaving when something does not go to your liking?’

John closed his eyes and sighed. Then he tried figuring out what Sherlock HAD wanted him to hear. He hadn’t sounded angry or sulky like he usually did when he was bored, more ... inviting?

Then suddenly Sherlock was back. Completely naked. And aroused. Still looking at John with THAT look.

He raised one eyebrow.

‘John. I’m bored.’

Aaaww communication problems :-)

At first, I wanted to tell Sherlock to just use his words and John would understand. But then, it all became "NO! USE YOUR NAKED AROUSED COCK INSTEAD, THAT'S BETTER!". I'm so changeable and it's your fault.

It was lovely and I'm a sucker for Sherlock who isn't a genius at verbalizing what he wants/feels when matters of the heart are concerned (yeah, no one would've guessed that). I love your 221Bs; they're fun, I'm always amazed at how much you can say with so little words and I can bump them to the top of my to-do list because seriously, how much can 221 words delay the washing up I have to do?

My favourite line is this one: You can’t just WILL me to understand. Sometimes talk is required. Because I can really imagine Sherlock doing things like that, just staring at someone with those eyes and waiting, hoping the other will catch up.

You know what's weird? I almost never know what the B word is going to be until I'm nearly done with the 221B. Well, sometimes I do, but usually I don't.

Really? That's funny. It's the other way around for me. I start with the word, I think about it for a while (sometimes a whole night, sometimes only seconds) then a sentence comes to my mind that ends in said word. And then I come up with a scenario which could end on that sentence.

I love your prompts, especially 'bee' (there the whole process mentioned above took about two seconds, I might write it tonight) and 'bodacious'.
