Today's prompt: jail

The 'Get out of jail free' card

“I should have known that we’d end up in jail. Me. In Jail. That’s just great.”

“Calm down.”

“Calm down? Is that all you have to say? You managed to get us arrested. For grave robbing!”

“You were quite happy to come along earlier.”

“Yeah, because you only told me that you needed me to give you a hand in searching for the final piece of evidence. I didn’t know that you meant actually grabbing a shovel and digging up a corpse!”

“It was irrelevant information at the time.”

“Irrelevant? IRRELE... You know what, it doesn’t matter. I just hope they don’t send Donovan here to get us. She’d have a field day.” He dropped down onto the plank bed.

After a while there were footsteps coming towards their cell. The man on the plank bed raised his head with a pained expression that brightened as soon as he heard their saviour’s voice outside the cell.

“Let’s get you two out of there.”

“Oh, thank God it’s you, John!”

Greg jumped up and peered at John.

“Relax, Greg. Mycroft made a few phone calls. This has never happened. No one will know.”

Apparently John could read minds now too.

“Thank you, John. You’re just in time. I was short of killing Sherlock and I think he was already planning a break-out.”

Of course, it was not who I thought it was in jail and again I followed that wrong trail happily until the revelation at the end made me even more happy :)
However, I wonder why Greg apparently had to step in for John and what our favourite army doctor has to say about this adventure when they're in private.

Tee-hee, that's so nice to hear. Most of my readers are like 'Oh, it's obviously John, so it can't be John, because this is Anarion and nothing is ever obvious'. ;)

Haha, John was probably just too clever to get dragged into that whole mess! ;)

Ha!

Figures John gets stuck with the ( insert pained Mycroft grimace here) legwork.
Very twisty!

I guess no time to get the proper paperwork sorted when Sherlock is a-frenzy to get evidence, eh?

Oh, brilliant! Really, really clever - and I absolutely love your dialogue, you're so good at that, it sounds completely natural and genuine.

And what do you mean you can't write plot? You've got a whole case going on in the background here - I want to know more!

Aha! For once I didn't get sidetracked and didn't believe it was John in jail with Sherlock!

Great dialogue, as usual! I can see Greg and hear his voice, first irritated then resigned.

*sees your current mood*
*holds out a hot-water bottle*
You can't write good porn fics if you're cold.

"Apparently John could read minds now too."

This makes me especially happy. I've no idea why it makes me happy, but it does.

Also, one of these times you'll make the protagonists who ordinarily they would be and that will totally surprise all of us!

Yay!! I didn't take the bait!!
I knew it was Lestrade's as soon as he mentioned Donovan!!
Actually, I got it before that when he said "me in jail"... :-D

Please go back to Verity's immediately so that I can text her and she can hold her phone close while my "Clever girl" ringtone plays in your ear.

Tricksy Anarion is the best, totally fooled me and gave me a *giggle fit* 'cause wheee! it was Greg in the cell.

“Yeah, because you only told me that you needed me to give you a hand in searching for the final piece of evidence. I didn’t know that you meant actually grabbing a shovel and digging up a corpse!”
That cracked me up, it did, it did, Greg complaining about "I didn't know we'd be digging up a corpse" implies that he was actually helping to dig up the corpse, it's like he's on auto-pilot when Sherlock asks him to do something and then his brain catches up and he's like "WTF, why did I do that." Friendship is a strange thing with these two.(yup)

“Relax, Greg. Mycroft made a few phone calls. This has never happened. No one will know.”
Shout-out to Omnipotent Mycroft 'cause he can never get enough love. <3

Apparently John could read minds now too.
*squeaks* Probably osmosis from living with Sherlock. Love the thought of it.
You are so witty with dialogue, this was so much fun. Thank You!

edit (sorry)Forgot to add: Perfect title is OH, HELLA YAH! *smooch*
