Previous 221b: Englishman in New York

Today's prompt: expensive

________________________________________________

Every beginning is an end

John ordered a tall vanilla latte and sat down next to the window. It was dark outside, and raining and the people were merely schemes hurrying past. He liked watching people, it gave him something to do, now that there was no place where he had to be, no place to call home anymore.

His thoughts went back to the man he had met earlier. He shouldn’t think about him, not about his hair, that looked so soft, not about his lips and certainly not about his arse.

He shook his head. He was not in a situation to think about other men’s posteriors, as tempting as they might be. It didn’t feel right.

And he should not think about meeting him tomorrow. That was just insane. You didn’t meet with strangers at a random address, no matter how intriguing they were or how sexy.

Before he could start thinking about the man’s eyes or – good Lord – his hands, he put the empty cup down and slowly limped out the door. It had stopped raining and the clouds ripped open so that he could see the stars.

He thought about that tall stranger in the expensive suit again and smiled. He would be there, tomorrow at 221B Baker Street. He took a deep breath. It felt like something new was beginning.

Ooooooo you tricked me! I thought this was about the John leaving story line and I was all "Nooooooooooo!" and then about 80% through I realized where it was going so I stopped and started from the beginning again.

*Happy dance*

And yes John, yes, you should totally think about his arse. In detail. With grabby hands. Mmmmm, grabby hands.

Oh my god, I literally experienced this "released a breath I didn't know I was holding".

I LOVE it!

I read it gave him something to do, now that there was no place where he had to be, no place to call home anymore and went, "Oh my God it's this story about John leaving Sherlock. Dammit."

Then I read His thoughts went back to the man he met yesterday. He shouldn’t think about him, not about his hair, that looked so soft, not about his lips and certainly not about his arse and I went, "Anarion, I'll be SO fuming if this man is not Sherlock and if the story doesn't take place in the past."

Finally I read He would be there, tomorrow at 221B Baker Street and I feel in peace with the world and with you. But you're devil indeed! :D

I think it's "His thoughts went back to the man he had met yesterday." :-)

It felt like something new was beginning.
And it feels sooo good! This is a splendid missing scene and the scene just went right into my head canon. Yes.

Ooh, vanilla latte... *is easily distracted*

Love this - especially the signs of early arse-obsession. Good to know John's in the same boat as the rest of us!

Oh this was so CLEVER! You really had me going until I noticed the limp - then I started to twig. I must admit, I was holding my breath until the very last sentence though!

Aww, John, you have no idea what wonders you're about to experience. And I don't just mean Dat Ass.

*hugs herself in excitement at knowing how happy John is soon going to be*

I haden't read this! That is not acceptable. And since I deleted the John left stories (because that's what I do) I wasn't afraid and could enjoy this from the start. But there is something I don't get (don't kill me): Why is he thinking about yesterday and tomorrow? Didn't he went to Baker Street the day after meeting Sherlock? I'll shut up now.

Ach menno, komm doch nicht mit so was! ;)

You're right, he met the man today, not yesterday, if he's going to 221B tomorrow. *sighs and goes to rewrite*

'Anarion is evil'
That tag always make my breath catch in anticipation. It does, it really does.

Anaron is a twisty, sneaky writer:
'He liked watching people, it gave him something to do, now that there was no place where he had to be, no place to call home anymore.'
(my first thought was "God no, she's writing the John leaves story." and yet kept reading, holding my breath. What? a little angst never stopped me, as long as you're writing it, I'm reading it. It's a conditioned response by now.:p

And kept holding that breath 'till:
...'he put the empty cup down and slowly limped out the door.'
At which point *sucked a deep breath* and *shrieked* "Limped!" and read last lines.*grinned like a cheshire cat* might have muttered things about tricksy, twisty someone and emotional blackmail, but only in passing and did not mean it. much.

Also, 'It had stopped raining and the clouds ripped open so that he could see the stars.' That is a powerful image and it gave me goosebumps, full on goosebumps.(yup)
