Today's prompt: England

________________________________________________

Taken (2/6)

With a soft noise John went to his knees next to the pool of blood on the floor. All his feelings were surfacing for a brief moment before he could reel them in. His hands were shaking.

With an effort of will he pushed them back down again, together with the frantic noise in his head that had nothing more to say than ‘SherlockSherlockSherlock’.

He got back on his feet again and went to look for Molly, who was probably the last person to see Sherlock.

+++

Greg sprinted up the stairs to Sherlock’s lab, still debating if he shouldn’t have ignored Mycroft and taken Ronda in spite of his orders, because she was the best when it came to dealing with shaken spouses.

He yanked the door open and almost stopped in his tracks. John was listening to Molly, but he was completely calm and controlled, a soldier from head to toe. The only tell was his jaw, that was clenched so hard it was almost white.

“John.”

“Greg. Where are your people?”

“Mycroft called me. He is handling it. I’m to stay out.”

“Then why are you here?”

“I’m here for you.”

John acknowledged that with a short nod.

“He said this was bigger than any of us.”

“Isn’t it always when you have the British Government as a brother?”

AN:
Today's prompt was 'England'.

I actually wanted to make you wait a little longer for part two, but I wrote the second part together with the first (without a prompt) and 'England' seemed kinda fitting. And then I waited for a prompt that would help me to resolve this. So now you have to wait. :D
I also can't count, because it has four parts and not three... *headdesk*

2/4????? Yesterday said 1/3!!! It did, it did, I know it did - you can't fool me with your cunning edits. You just want to torture us for longer with poor Sherlock in peril and John all worried and... and...

*gulps*

Sorry about that - it's just that 'all my feelings were surfacing for a brief moment before I could reel them in.'

Ooh... is distracted by mention of Ronda - I like Ronda!

Aww... Lestrade is there for John. OK, I'm still worried, but now I'm aww-ing too. Feelings... what are you doing?!

Killer last line!

OK, bring on 3/5. I am ready!

Well, I learned that from the best. :P

I knew that was going to happen. As soon as I hit 'Post Comment', I thought, 'You absolute muppet!'

*waits for chocola to join in the pointing and laughing*

I guess now I understand why people say, 'No, it's OK - more is good!' when I do it!

Who, moi? Pointing and laughing? Oh, you're SO misjudging me.
*points and laughs*
Anyway, this is not the same thing at all. You can't stop writing because you want to give us (and Sherlock and John) even more romance, cuddles, happiness and sex. (I hope you don't get me wrong when I say you want to give us more sex.). Anarion, on the other hand, wants to give us (and Sherlock and John) even more angst and nail-biting. What might we deduce about your respective hearts?
*looks at Anarion sternly*

What might we deduce about your respective hearts?

Um... that I withhold the sex, but deliver angst and nail-biting...

And that Anarion delivers the (smoking-hot) sex on an extremely regular basis, but occasionally withholds a bit of angst?

And that's somehow this is all fine :D

I love this fandom!

Oh, well done. I aimed to make Anarion feel horribly guilty and repentant and willing to post the next parts as soon as possible, but you spoilt everything with your "this is all fine". You encourage her on the road to evil. Don't come and complain if tomorrow she casually says, "Oh, by the way, you know, when I said 'I also can't count, because it has four parts and not three'? Well, in fact I can't spell properly either, because I meant 'it has ten parts and not three.'" And she'll add a "death character" tag or something. And it will turn out that it was Sherlock's nail varnish after all. (This may be the worst part.)

Well, if some people were publishing their works, then some people could resort to the tactics the rest of us employ when she gets too tantalising...

Threaten her with toe-fic!

Chocolamousse couldn't read this comment because she went to bed. Also, did you know that the French for "get off" is "prendre son pied", which literally means "take one's foot"? I'm not even kidding!
*watches Anarion faint with disgust*

Verity! Chocola! Stop it right now! You'll get me to live under my desk for a month if you keep up taunting! 6 chapters now! *iz dead*

Chocolate! I meant to say 'chocolate'

'Threaten her with chocolate'... THAT was the phrase I was going for.

DAMN my keyboard!

I've been reliably informed that I have an evil one. :D

Gaffawing over here in the corner.... Honestly, the comments are nearly as much fun as the stories with you and Atlin..
(please note that I am absolutely delighted to be tortured more with this story, and will be happy to throw chocolate, caffeinated beverages, and or handmade biscuits your way to encourage the madness)

Sorry but "OK, bring on 3/5. I am ready!" That one just killed me. I'll comment as soon as I stop laughing.

It's going to be 6 chapters now, if you read the above comments you'll know whom to thank for that. :P

Oh my, 4 instead of 3 parts means 1 more cliffhanger and episode until the hopefully happy ending, but I'm glad you gave us at least part 2 now already ;)

Eeeeeevil, you is. But eventually there will be more.
As long as this gets resolved, I shall overlook the errors in counting.. THIS time. (tongue placed firmly in cheek there...)
I guess I must soldier on along with the boys and wait. I do wonder if Molly noticed anything though... She always seems to pick up on things most miss- in her own way, not like Sherlock. Perhaps the nail varnish shall spark a memory...

Anarion is *definitely* evil.

See...this is why I don't like to read WIPs. I hate waiting. I have no patience. And you are evil. *pouty lip*

As you said sooner, "Part two is coming up today. Not that that will help...". It doesnt' help indeed. Look at me, I'm so distressed I didn't even shout, "INNUENDO!" at With a soft noise John went to his knees. John is a shaken spouse and I'm a shaken reader.

a soldier from head to toe
To toe. Toe.
Did you have psychotherapy or something?

“He said this was bigger than any of us.”
Wait, bigger than Mycroft? Ooooh, that's really very very big. (This sentence is ridiculous. Mark Gatiss is anything but big.)

So now you have to wait. :D
*sighs* Oh, great. Also, I hate this smile. You sadist.

I also can't count, because it has four parts and not three...
Oh, better and better. You know, this prompt of yours, "Hurt without comfort", well, it talks about what you do to us. I hope you're feeling guilty now. :D

To toe. Toe.
Did you have psychotherapy or something?

I was trying to ignore the implications of this idiom until someone threw them in my face...
Are you fishing for another chapter of angst here? :D

“He said this was bigger than any of us.”
I'm actually more worried that there was no innuendo from you regarding this sentence... ;)

Date: 2012-10-05 10:36 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] chocolamousse.livejournal.com
It's only because you didn't write, “He said this was bigger than any of ours.” :D

Ok, I'm ok now. Verity saved me from the worse with a little bit of laughter, but I still feel the urge to hide under my desk till you post part 4, 5 or 6 and I can read the happy end.

Aaarrrghh. I love John in this - I can see him holding himself together and pulling every soldier instinct out just to get him through this without panicking and worrying to death.

So, waiting it is then, huh? We can wait, we are Sherlcok fans after all.

And two more parts? Yeah!

Date: 2012-10-05 10:34 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] arianedevere.livejournal.com
Ye gods, and they call me evil with the wind-ups in my stories. At least I don't leave people with cliffhangers and no idea when they might be resolved. I mean, what are you, the bloody BBC or something?!

But as Tracionn said, we are the Sherlock fandom. We're used to waiting.

Doesn't mean we enjoy it, though.

But I am enjoying the story, in a nail-bitey way. I love John going all BAMF to stop himself disintegrating into hysterics; and utterly adore Lestrade coming for him because he knows the state he'll be in.

Let's see, what can I do to distract myself while I'm waiting for the next part? Ooh, I know! I can start posting gifs of Dem Toes in action ...

BRB with many gifs - unless there's a part 3 to distract me, of course ...
