Today's prompt: engaged

________________________________________________

Otherwise engaged

“I need to see the body.“

Sherlock strode out, not even looking back, absolutely convinced that John and Lestrade would follow.

They didn’t. To be fair though, John had every inclination to, but was held back by Lestrade.

“John. Um. I need your advice. It’s a bit awkward, because, well it’s about marriage and you two had that big row over this topic a few weeks ago, but... there’s no one else I could ask.”

“It’s fine, Greg, really.”

“I’m going to ask Molly to marry me.”

“Really? That’s fantastic! Congrats, mate.”

“Yes, but... Should I ask Sherlock not to tell Molly? I don’t want him deducing me and blurting it out.”

“He won’t notice. It’s a feeling he doesn’t recognise, not even on a second-hand basis. Trust me, I know. I’ve been thinking about it for a while now. He hasn’t noticed. I think it’s his blind spot. He is convinced no one will ever love him enough to marry him. Not even I. “

“How sad. Wait. You want to marry him?”

“Yes. Yes, I do. But because of his insecurity he disregards everything that has to do with the topic. You’re safe. And I need to find a way to convince him.”

“If anyone can do it, it’s you. That’s going to be a tough one, I bet.

AN:
Today's prompt was 'engaged'.

I'm off for a few days, I'm going to queue my posts and hope it works. If you don't get any notifications the next two days, please blame LJ! ;)
Sadly I can't link to the previous/next post that way.

you two had that big row over this topic a few weeks ago
Wait. Did you already tell us about this row? It doesn't ring a bell, but... You write so much! Not that I'm complaining, of course. But I demand a marriage tag for all the 221Bs about Sherlock and John's wedding. :D

He is convinced no one will ever love him enough to marry him. Not even I.
As Greg says, how sad. I'm so glad John will soon prove him how wrong he is. Er, wait. *rummages through your fics* DEDUCTION TIME! John buys the ring at the time when Molly celebrates her baby's first birthday. In this fic Greg is about to propose Molly. So, John will propose Sherlock in about two years. John has been thinking to marry Sherlock for two years and during all this time Sherlock was convinced nobody would ever want to marry him? Oh Anarion, why are you so cruel?

I think it's "I don’t want him deducing me and blurting it out” or "I don’t want him to deduce me and to blurt it out.” :-)

No, don't worry, I haven't told you about the row yet.

A marriage tag? That might be a good idea. I also just came up with another new tag that applies to a lot of my 221Bs, so I might have to go back and re-tag some of them anyway.

Also: Dammit, did I mess up my own timeline? I'm all confused now!

No, not necessarily. What makes you think that the baby is not already born? *hopes desperately for the right answer*

*facepalms*
Oh my God I'm so mortified. Look at how old-fashioned my unconscious is. You say "marriage" and you say "baby" and it says, "Well, of course the baby could only be conceived after the marriage." Whereas it wouldn't never have occurred to me that Greg and Molly stayed chast before the wedding. (My unconscious is not that old-fashioned.) Your timeline is perfect and I'm a moron. :D

Aww, this is so sweet and yet so sad at the same time!

It leaves me with an inexplicable craving for Chinese food.

So that's tea sorted, then - thank you!

Wait. Talking about dead bodies and marriage makes you crave Chinese food? *perplexed and amused*

Um, you're welcome? ;)

This is Sherlock. This is Sherlock aaaall over. Both in his blind spot and the reason for it!

John will show him otherwise! You will show us John showing us otherwise!

I love Mystrade, buy I totally root for Molly / Greg too - I'd like to see that on screen, and it's something TV would not shy from :-) (bcause all girls want boys and all boys want girls and everyone wants a partner, as TV tells us)
