Today's prompt: Speedy's

________________________________________________

Sometimes it's as easy as pie

When John first realised that Sherlock sometimes doesn’t eat for a few days in a row, especially when he has a case, he got angry at him. Then he worried. By now he knows that he can’t change the way Sherlock eats, but he realised that while it’s weird to watch, Sherlock is healthy enough.

Sherlock usually doesn’t eat anything for breakfast, he just drinks coffee. He joins John at the table to read the newspaper though.

Sherlock loves everything sweet, so while John’ll have something normal for dinner like fish, potatoes and carrots, Sherlock’ll eat semolina pudding with a tin of fruits. A pound of pudding. Fruits in syrup. Followed by some kind of cake that Mrs Hudson left in the kitchen.

He isn’t a binge eater. He sometimes complains that he is feeling sick after all the food, but he never goes to vomit it up again. John checked.

He is pretty sure that Sherlock had an eating disorder sometime in his life, probably anorexia. He is also pretty sure that he cured himself and his strange eating habits are the result of that.

Sometimes they go to Speedy’s for lunch. John will eat a burger. Sherlock will eat apple pie. Three servings.

As long as he eats, John doesn’t mind what. He just smiles and pays the bill.

This is lovely. But the rest is rather sad... Quite credible but rather sad. Poor Sherlock: former obese child in Ariane's fic, former anorexic now... Bad week for him!

As long as he eats, John doesn’t mind what. He just smiles and pays the bill.
Tsk tsk tsk, John. You're a doctor for God's sake! You'll smile less in some years when Sherlock will pay the bill, because diabete and high cholesterol level are afoot. Gah, it's depressing. You shouldn't be allowed to post depressing fics when the weekend begins! :D
*goes and reads Go Bananas again to see Sherlock eating bananas and chocolate desserts in a, er, non-depressing way*
HEY! YOU REPLACED "CHOCOLATE PUDDING" BY "CHOCOLATE MOUSSE" AND NOW IT GOES "SHERLOCK CLEANED HIS CHOCOLATE MOUSSE POT WITH HIS FINGER AND LICKED THAT FINGER CLEAN"!!!
*swoons*
*is not depressed anymore*

I'm sorry this made you sad. *hugs*

This is actually based on personal experience, I have a friend who eats like that. At first I was extremly worried, but after a while I got used to it. It's probably not really healthy, but he is healthy enough. He works out and he is rarely sick (I eat regularly and I try to eat fruits and vegetables often, but I'm sick way more than he is), so it seems to work for him. *shrugs*

And I think that Sherlock does eat non-sweet stuff too. There was just not enough room in the 221B. *pats choco*

HEY! YOU REPLACED "CHOCOLATE PUDDING" BY "CHOCOLATE MOUSSE" AND NOW IT GOES "SHERLOCK CLEANED HIS CHOCOLATE MOUSSE POT WITH HIS FINGER AND LICKED THAT FINGER CLEAN"!!!
*lol*

while she is in fact driving to Berlin and back, she already has a bunch of friends with her, so her car is full. and I really don't think I'll survive Monday after not sleeping properly :(

Well, that sucks! Stupid real life, stupid aspects of being a grown-up.

And she did not think about asking you? I thought you two were friends. (despite her being weird with a certain barista...)

I was ready to break the law with you and somehow film that whole thing if we could've come up with a decent plan...

well, she has to house/cat sit at her mum's place. she did ask me whether I wanted to come along for a (back then unspecified) weekend, but cats+me=allergy. so she asked others and now the car is full which could have gotten me home again.

I guess it's not supposed to be :(

Damm my leg! And her friends. And your work.
Because of course you could stay at my place, 100% cat-free.
*I haz a sad*

*Shudders* All that sugar just,*BRRRRR* and lovely, understanding John picking his battles and probably thinking "Well calories are calories."
But his Doctor side must be pretty horrified at it.

Well, he probably makes Sherlock eat veggies now and then, just to feel better. ;)

I think my favourite line in this is:

John checked.

There's a world of care in those two words and I love that you put it in its own sentence - great writing :D

That's exactly what I was going for! Thank you for telling me that it worked. :)

Because while John certainly does not like the way Sherlock eats, as long as he eats, he is more or less content. So of course he checked that it stays inside of Sherlock. I know I did when I met the friend Sherlock's eating habits here are based on.

I don't know why but Sherlock not eating always gives me a sort of stomach pain, it makes me sad. Thank you John, for watching over him. You too, Anarion.
