Previous 221b: A Quiet Night

Today's prompt:

________________________________________________

Clear as Mud

He wanted a great variety of samples. They spent days trying to find the right ones.

They went to a nameless place where there was nothing except fields and grass and old factories. It was boring.

They went to Oxford. He wanted to go see the colleges and the libraries. Apparently there was no time for that.

When they reached the third destination, John was a little miffed.

They had a talk. Well, John talked. Sherlock pretended to listen. They agreed that while Sherlock gathered samples, John was allowed to wander off to do something he wanted. Well, John agreed. Sherlock didn’t even pretend to.

They went to Brighton. John decided to visit the Royal Pavilion. Sherlock – usually a very graceful person – managed to fall into the sea five minutes after John left.

They went to Stratford. John decided to visit Shakespeare’s birth place. Sherlock managed to get arrested eight minutes after John left.

They had a talk. Well, John talked. Sherlock pretended to listen. They agreed that it might be better for John to stay with Sherlock. Well, John agreed. This time, Sherlock did too.

It was a relief to get back home.

John really hoped Sherlock wouldn’t make him do this again. Ever. He just wanted a shower and his bed. Sherlock could deal with everything squishy and brown.

I don't even know. *lol*
Also don't ask about the title. Have I mentioned that I hate titles???

This is fucking adorable and I had no clue WTF through most of it. I can't believe I'm the one giving you most of these prompts and I still have no clue what's going to happen. This is like getting a small perfect present every damn day.

I AM BRILLIANT FOR THINKING OF THIS IDEA. (Or you are. I forget. I think we kind of came up with 365 days of 221Bs together, didn't we?)

Tee-hee.

This is like getting a small perfect present every damn day.
If someone deserves a perfect present every damn day, it's you! <3

I AM BRILLIANT FOR THINKING OF THIS IDEA.
I think it was a group effort. But yes, you are brilliant. We both are. :)

You might "not even know" about the prompt but you manage to produce something original and funny. I very much like the form of it, the repetitions of "they went", "he wanted", "John decided to", "Sherlock managed to" and of course the "they had a talk" part. It's a bit like a cranky nursery rhyme and I think it's lovely.

They had a talk. Well, John talked. [...] Well, John agreed. Sherlock didn’t even pretend to.
For once it's not the other way around! At least Sherlock is not in Dublin while John talks to him.

I guess I should think Sherlock is a sneaky and manipulative man and blame him but... Nope. The only words which come to my mind are "adorable" and "endearing". Oh well. It reminds me of something Verity wrote for one of Concuelo's drawings on her Tumblr, in which Sherlock says it's better with John, and when John asks him what is better Sherlock answers, "Everything". Including, of course, taking samples of mud! :D

Pst, you forgot the full stop after "It was boring". :-)

That's good to hear. :)

Thank you so much for taking the time every day to comment, I really really appreciate it! <3

I think I've embarked on a ‘365 days of comments’ challenge. It's much less exhausting than your challenge! :D

Hee, thank you so much!

And yes, there will be many more situations were they'll have a talk. Well, John will talk. Sherlock will pretend to listen. They'll agree on something. Well, John will agree. Sherlock might. Or not. ;)

That's exactly how it will go. Or not. Probably the latter. Or the first. :)

This is brilliant - I love all the 'someone agreed / someone pretended to' things, that's really cleverly done. Poor, long-suffering John. Let me hug him!

So glad to hear that. I sometimes fear people might think I'm just lazy with all the repetition, but I usually do it on purpose. ;)

Thank you, sweetie! And yes, let's all give John a hug. :)
