As a writing exercise for me [livejournal.com profile] atlinmerrick and I came up with the ‘365 days of 221Bs’ challenge: I am going to write a 221B each day for a year (meaning 365 in total). Every 221B will be based on a prompt given by Atlin on the same day.

Because this exercise is meant to help me write and not interfere with my usual writing, I will post at least one longer story per month (argh).

The challenge officially starts today, but since I already posted the first four 221Bs, I will not re-post them but merely change the posting date (I hope that works out the way I planned...). The first new entry will be on day 5 (Saturday).

I will make a weekly post to the comms, because I don’t want to spam the list every day.

What do you think? Questions? Comments? Let me hear it! :)

Question to you: Should I post the prompt in the summary or rather in the author's note so that I don't give it away before you can read it?

This is so exciting I'm yelling. In my mind, yes, but I am yelling.

I think you should post the prompt in the author's note, never the summary.

First: the picture you chose is, er, pretty.
*savours the sight*

Second: wow. One 221B every day AND one longer fic every month? You're not afraid of challenges. Do you need a stock of coffee or nicotine patches?

Third: until now Atlin's prompts were rather vague, I don't think it's a problem if you put them in the summary, au contraire it can make our mouths water (figuratively speaking; well, I mean, most of the time figuratively speaking *coughs*), unless it gives away the ending as "Buttons" in I hang on with all my might; in this case the prompt would be better in the AN. But it's only my opinion!

Finally: this challenge may be exhausting for you but this is great news for us! Bon voyage et bon courage! :-)

Right. I've just read Atlin's answer about the right place for her prompts. Actually, do you know what? Ignore me. Ignore all of my first comment. Here's my new advice: do EXACTLY what Atlin says, because otherwise she could retaliate by giving you prompts like, er, 'diarrhoea' or (brace yourself) 'big toe'. Also, when I said vague I didn't mean it in a pejorative way, I meant that you can write a lot of different things from the prompt. :-)

Argh, do you have to talk about the t.. thingies???
I mean, I say challenge, but does it have to be a challenge like that???

I still can't believe you're going to do this. I admire you so much! Of course I love the thought that I can come over every day to read something new from you.

Regarding the prompts, I think the author's notes would be the better place for them.

For a while, I have believed that chocolamousse was me, only French, because I tend to agree with everything she says. (Usually she's clamoring for more porn.) However, now we must part ways, because I like the idea of having the prompts in the author's notes.

On the other hand, yes, the picture is pretty. There's something especially ... stirring about the left side of Sherlock's face. Also, I see Atlin came up with metal numbers for you! Clever girl.

Good luck to you as you embark on this new & highly Sherlock-y project.

I don't know what you're talking about. I NEVER clamor for more porn. Just ask Anarion.
*thinks about that*
No, wait. Don't ask her. It's not a good idea. :D

*stares at the header*

*Opens mouth.*

*Shuts it again.*

*stares some more*

Umm, that is all.

You did a fantastic job on that, Atlin. Dammit, is there anything you're not good at?

Best of luck with this, Anarion! We'll all be here with pom poms waving excitedly and cheering you on. And yeah, I'd go with generally putting the prompt in the AN unless there's a specific reason to put it before the story itself.

I'm all for spoilers, so I would welcome the prompt in the summary :)
Aside from that, I'm looking forward to the next 360 stories!

Sorry, prompts are going in the AN. I hope you will continue to read nevertheless. :)

I decided to put a teaser in the summary though!
