This is day 2 of the Advent calendar filled with little ficlets, brought to you by [livejournal.com profile] days_of_storm and me. We will post in rotation, so you get a story by me one day and one from her the next day, right up until Christmas.
Apart from the overall Christmasy theme we decided to take over from where the other left off in her chapter so that there will be one story in the end. Let's see how that works out.

A happy pre-Christmas season to all of you! :)

Day 1 by the fabulous days_of_storm here

Day 2

Sherlock reread his blog entry on blood patterns – groundbreaking and fascinating like all his entries – and then mentally resurfaced in the world of 221B.

John was in the kitchen, Sherlock could hear clattering and he smelled cinnamon, cloves and warm cider. John was making punch. It was that time of the year again...

Sherlock was not very keen on the whole Christmas business, but John loved it, so he went along. Although they had never invited friends over after that one time that ended with a visit to the morgue for Sherlock and a break-up for John. Not something Sherlock liked to dwell upon (well, maybe on the break-up...), like all things from before.

He pushed the unpleasant thoughts away and got up to walk over to the kitchen. The punch was ready so he turned around and walked back to the sofa, leaving it to John to carry the mugs.

He had to admit that it tasted good. Not that he said it out loud, but John was very good at reading his expressions by now. Lying to him was almost impossible and therefore a tempting challenge now and then. But not today. John was in a good mood and Sherlock’s brain was not yet screaming for something to occupy itself with.

He leaned back, until his shirt stretched over his chest, licked his lips and turned his head to look at John, whose gaze slowly travelled over Sherlock’s body until it came to rest on his face and he returned the look.

After a few moments the temperature of the room seemed to rise when John put down his mug and slowly walked over to Sherlock. With a practised move he straddled his lover on the sofa and leaned down to kiss him.

Suddenly Sherlock’s mobile rang and the sound was so loud in the room that both men jumped a little and the not-yet-kiss almost ended with two bloody lips.

Argh! To build the tension up like that and then let the phone ring? That is cruel!

Aw, what a lovely moment that was! Well, before the phone anyway.
First time I'm following this calendar of yours - most exciting!!

groundbreaking and fascinating like all his entries
*giggles*
Yes, it's obvious.

so he turned around and walked back to the sofa, leaving it to John to carry the mugs.
You're right, Sherlock. A full mug is far too heavy for you. You could strain a muscle or something.

After a few moments the temperature of the room seemed to rise
Well of course. It's the punch.

Suddenly Sherlock’s mobile rang and the sound was so loud in the room that both men jumped a little and the not-yet-kiss almost ended with two bloody lips.
Bloody mobile! It was so promising, we all know what happens when John's kiss tastes of punch since your Inception. *sighs* Ah well. We have 23 days left.

A happy pre-Christmas season to all of you! :)
And to you too! I'm ready, I have new Sherlock Christmas icons and everything. :D

Typo alert! You wrote "Advent Calender" in the title. Also, "whose gaze slowly travelled", unless you mean to go all American! :D

"Sherlock reread his blog entry on blood patterns – groundbreaking and fascinating like all his entries – "

Oh yes, we'd expect nothing less!!!

Love the way you turn up the heat, sentence by sentence.

I can't tell you how odd it feels to read a short-ish piece from you and not have it end in a 'B' word!

Your opening line here is absolute perfection - both Sherlock's ego over the vital nature of his blog entry, then 'mentally resurfaced in the world of 221B' - that's brilliantly phrased, I love that :D

Once I got to the 'shirt stretched over his chest' part, I must admit that I glazed over a bit - but it was the very best of glazing and I thank you most sincerely!
