Previous 221b: Know when you're beaten

Today's prompt: train journey

________________________________________________

Joy Ride

“I can’t believe you made me take the train.”

Sherlock waved his finger around, apparently trying to stab him with it. John scowled at him.

“This is the first holiday we’re taking in ages. I don’t want to start it by you driving me crazy while I’m... you know, driving.”

“You’d rather have me drive you crazy on the train?”

“Why don’t you just sit back and enjoy the journey? Look, there are sheep.”

“Sheep. Really, John?”

“What’s your problem?”

“Train journeys are atrocious. Stupid people talking about their boring lives, the man over there munching his crisps, those three immature, hysterically giggling women and the seat is uncomfortable. How am I supposed to think?”

The finger was back, this time almost poking him in the eye. He pondered biting it.

“You’re not. This is a holiday, remember?”

Now the fingers were busy typing on the phone.

“What are you doing?”

“Texting Lestrade.”

John decided to try and get some sleep.

***

“John, I’m bored. Lestrade is not answering.”

“John. JOHN. John.”

“Sherlock!”

Sherlock’s mouth snapped shut and he glared at John before lowering his eyes to glare at his phone.

No one said getting some sleep with Sherlock around was going to be easy.

***

“John, wake up. This journey is finally getting interesting.”

“Hm. What?”

“Someone just stole our baggage!”

AN:
The prompt was 'train journey'.

This is a special treat for you. atlinmerrick, verityburns and I were travelling to London to meet with arianedevere and Staceuo. On the train. First class. Neat!
Of course something had to happen writing-wise and the minute we sat down in the train, Atlin said 'Let's all write a 221B about a train journey!'
So we did.
Make sure to check out the other ladies' stories! Just click on their names. :D

Oh, I have a new favourite! That's OK, right? I'm allowed more than one?

This is just wonderful- I started giggling at the apparent stabbing and was howling by the time I reached, "Look, there are sheep.”

Not sure about the reference to three immature, hysterically giggling women though - that seems highly unlikely *adopts innocent expression*

Bloody brilliant, darling!

Oh my, I can so very much imagine how annoying Sherlock would be on a train ride, for all the reasons I like travelling by train ;)

I just wonder ... did he let the baggage be stolen on purpose or did he perhaps get comfortable in the seat after all and dosed off, too?

I can't wait for the other train-stories!

Verity stole all my best lines! Or stole all your best lines! What I'm saying is this thing is hysterical, right from the stabbing to the sheep (oh lord I especially love that) to the immature women whom I can't imagine tolerating on a long train journey to—oh hell, bloody brilliant!

This was charming, especially the part about the sheep. Did John slip someone fifty pounds to steal their luggage? Maybe he can get some sleep while Sherlock is running around interrogating the passengers. Especially the giggling women. They sound highly suspicious. If he gets the luggage back, I recommend that he check it to make sure he and John still have all their pants.

Ahem. *says nothing because is very polite but has her suspicions*

Is there going to be po... Sorry.

Funny fic! Sherlock behaving like a brat must be unbearable. And adorable. I can see him observing the baggage thief with silent glee, mouthing, "Carry on, don't mind me!" And I can imagine John's reaction. :D
