Previous 221b: Every beginning is an end

Today's prompt: crutches

________________________________________________

Every end is a beginning

That one and no one else.

He had known from the first glimpse, from the moment he had limped into the lab. How? He wasn’t sure. It was a gut thing.

“Excuse me? You did what? We don’t follow our gut. What is that even supposed to mean? We follow logic and rationality. That’s how it’s always been.”

Mycroft said that the next day and he was right of course. Sherlock Holmes had never followed anything else than his brain. Not emotions, not fantasies and certainly not his gut.

But with this man he had. He had seen the strength, the pain, the fear, the stubbornness and the kindness behind those blue eyes and had decided right away. He was going to be able to put up with Sherlock, he would not be afraid to speak his mind, maybe he would even like him eventually.

The crutch obviously had to go, he was no use limping. That was the first thing he would work on.

So a Holmes never followed his gut? Maybe some things needed to end eventually, Sherlock thought.

He had stridden into the morgue to get his riding crop and had been looking forward to seeing John Watson again the next day so much that he hadn’t even been annoyed by Molly who had followed him around befuddled.

Ah, I love this title! Yesterday's one was a little sad. :-)

maybe he would even like him eventually.
Aww. Insecure!Sherlock...

The crutch obviously had to go, he was no use limping.
Ouch. That's a bit harsh. Like Sherlock Before John.

That's a veeery promising beginning! I hope the next two days will be crazy in a good way. :-)

Until "But with this man he had" I thought it was still John's POV. Did you do it on purpose, because you're evil? Or maybe it's just Stupid Me. But if it's not, maybe you could say, "He had known from the first glimpse, from the first moment John limped into the lab". And I think it's "from the first moment he had limped into the lab". You can delete "first" before "moment" to keep the same word count. Oh, I'm sorry! You don't mind my rewriting of your story, don't you? :D

Never be sorry for this wonderful little glimpses that you are giving us! Even if they are pre-slash they are part of their history. I always wondered how Sherlock knew right away that John is the one.

I wonder if he thought how to combine the ideas of "riding crop" & "John Watson" in that moment ;)

I like this moment in Sherlock's brain.

Just one thing, a tiny typo - "ridding crop" instead of "riding crop"

So this is Anarion being nice, dropping little nuclear submarine sized*feels*bomb*/*depthcharge*:
'But with this man he had. He had seen the strength, the pain, the fear, the stubbornness and the kindness behind those blue eyes and had decided right away. He was going to be able to put up with Sherlock, he would not be afraid to speak his mind, maybe he would even like him eventually.'
*sniffles* "maybe he would even like him eventually."{ow.}
Though how much do i adore that Sherlock sees and is attracted to{sorry notices} the character traits of John Watson. as opposed to the physical traits John was (not)noticing about Sherlock in yesterday's story.
*sighs* He knows what he needs, enough to listen to his gut instinct instead of his brain. O.K. Anarion is nice.(yup)

Yesterday's title and today's are a wonderful full circle and i'm not going to listen to you next you whinge about "I'm no good at titles" 'cause I'll wave these at you as an example of your genius.
