Er, wait. *rummages through your fics* DEDUCTION TIME! John buys the ring at the time when Molly celebrates her baby's first birthday. In this fic Greg is about to propose Molly. So, John will propose Sherlock in about two years. John has been thinking to marry Sherlock for two years and during all this time Sherlock was convinced nobody would ever want to marry him? Oh Anarion, why are you so cruel?
I think it's "I don’t want him deducing me and blurting it out” or "I don’t want him to deduce me and to blurt it out.” :-)
