Today's prompt: theatre

An Evening Out

Sherlock loves going to the theatre. Not for the reasons you probably have in mind.

Oh, don’t get me wrong, he can tolerate a good play (he prefers the classicals and really doesn’t like Shakespeare’s comedies), but he would never choose going as a mere amusement.

No, the reason why he really enjoys going to the theatre is John.

Going to the theatre is something special for John, something he missed during all his years in university and in the army.

They don’t do it often, but when they do it’s always like an anniversary.

John starts by reading the reviews in Time Out and deciding on a play. Sherlock loves watching him, fully concentrated on the task, his tongue darting out now and then.

On the evening of the play John will dress up and they will go out for dinner, some place small and quiet, and walk to the theatre from there. John will hold Sherlock’s hand the whole time.

Sherlock forgets about the play the moment they leave the theatre, but he never deletes anything else about these evenings.

Tonight is such a night and as always it ends with John taking Sherlock to bed.

Afterwards, John grins at him. “I really want to call for an encore but that would probably kill me. That was amazing. Bravo!”

AN:
Today's prompt was 'theatre'.
I'm not really happy with this one, but like John Watson I have bad days. ;)

[livejournal.com profile] chocolamousse wrote a fic telling us what exactly Sherlock loves about going to the theatre with John. It's beautiful! Go read it here.

Wait, can you put posts in a queue here? I just dated this for tomorrow and it doesn't appear on my journal. Did you guys get this on Thursday or on Friday?

It appeared on Friday.

Really don't know what's not to like. I love when Sherlock's focus is on John so much.

I got this post this morning. Maybe there's a problem with your "calendar": when you look at your "recent entries" you can see that You're The Only One I See and An Evening Out are both "Day 30" whereas they should be "Day 31" and "Day 32". Also, Time Doesn't Always Heal is "Day 23" whereas it should be "Day 24". DEDUCTION TIME! Actually it seems there's a problem every time you post a fic on top of your usual 221Bs, since it happened the day after Quintessencial and the day after Sunday Phone Sex. This is the extent of my deduction. :D

So, this is what you call a bad day? Pft. What the hell do you dislike about it? It's a lovely scene of domesticity, full of love and intimacy. I very much like John will hold Sherlock’s hand the whole time. Aaaand it ends, as Sherlock's day, with John taking Sherlock to bed. So maybe the title should be An Evening In and Out. *doesn't even blush*

“I really want to call for an encore but that would probably kill me. That was amazing. Bravo!”
It seems it was a remarkable performance. Do you know if there are screenings or a DVD?

P.S. A month already! Only 333 221Bs to go now! (Er, it was supposed to be encouraging.) It was a great month, keep it up! :-)

Argh. I sent a comment yesterday and now I notice I can't see it under the fic if I haven't logged in, whereas it's counted when I look at your recent entries. (I mean it reads "5 comments" on the "recent entries" page but "4 comments" on the fic page itself. Er, is this clear?) I don't know if YOU can see it. So, just in case, here it is again. If you've got it already, sorry for the spamming. :-)

DEDUCTION TIME!
Brilliant. :)
Sadly it's just a sign for the author and poster being a muppet and messing things up... *sighs*

An Evening In and Out. *doesn't even blush*
Life is too short to be embarrassed. ;)

Wow, a month already! Only 11 to go. *lol*
