Over the Hills

In some aspects Sherlock seems to be the perfect travel companion: He speaks several languages, is brilliant and can adapt to almost every situation he finds himself in.

In reality travelling with Sherlock is a nightmare. He insults people in several languages, uses his brain to get himself in all kinds of trouble and most of the time chooses to not adapt to any given situation. John is really sick of apologising to people in languages he doesn’t even speak.

Sherlock also gets something close to whiny every time he has to leave London.

John however loves to travel. He does not speak a lot of languages but he can communicate with people in other countries nonetheless, he just uses his smile, his hands and – if he has to – also his feet. He takes trouble and chaos stoically (except when caused by Sherlock) and manages to get help from people in the most remote areas.

So tonight, after Sherlock repeatedly complained about the bed, the weather and the population in general, John decides that this will be the last journey he dragged Sherlock into.

“You know, for someone who wanted to be a pirate, you have a very small sense of adventure...”

“I merely found all the treasures I could be looking for.”

John smiled.

“So basically, I am your bounty?”

AN: I needed a little writing exercise. I asked Atlin for a prompt. Then we decided that I was going to write a 221B every day we spent together.

Now, on day 7, (yes, I know I am behind in posting...) I seem to have agreed to do a '365 days of 221Bs' challenge. Oh boy. ;)

For a Frenchwoman the word bounty first designates a chocolate bar, but oddly enough the idea of Sherlock seeing John as a delicious sweet makes sense. :D Not to mention the slogan, "The taste of paradise". *coughs* (Is this why your current mood is "hungry ?)

Funny and lovely, especially “I merely found all the treasures I could be looking for.” But I deeply regret you didn't use booty instead of bounty. *sniggers shamelessly* Oh, you did it on purpose ? You're not fun. *sulks*

Sorry to quibble, but I think it should be he speaks instead of He speaks in the first line; the colon is followed by a lower-case letter in British English, but if you wanted to write in American Engligh (because the 22B is about travelling abroad), then you're right ! :D

C'mon John, leave Sherlock at home and travel with me. We'll bring him souvenirs and he can deduce where they are from.

365 days of this? That is just perfect!

I've just reread my comment. It seems horribly pontifical. Sorry, it wasn't my intention ! :-)

Why, Anarion, are you channelling a certain person travelling with you at the moment?!

My favorite part is "John is really sick of apologising to people in languages he doesn’t even speak."

I also like that instead of "one of the beds," there's just "the bed." That's a good number of beds for this lot.

Your comment was lovely as always and thanks for the spelling heads up (it was beta'd by an American *lol*)

Hahaha! Late reply is so late that a certain person has left ages ago [sobbs]. Still funny! :)

Of course there is just 'the bed'. Is there another option? *scratches head*
